We Are Preparing for 2012

UN Commision on the Status of Women

Welcome

RDLN welcomes rural women from around the world who will be participating in the Commission on the Status of Women meetings this year! We hope that you will connect with us beforehand and while you are here. Please email us about your plans if you have a chance. (See contact information below.

Background
Every year since 1994, RDLN has presented a panel at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) meetings. We have provided a space where RDLN Network members and women from other countries have been able to exchange ideas about women and rural community development, a place to put a human face on concerns of other countries.

This year we are especially enthusiastic because the theme relates so closely to our mission: The theme of the 2012 meeting will be "The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication development and current challenges.

The conference dates are from Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 9. Thurday, March 1. CSW is holding an orientation "Consultation Day" on Sunday, February 26. There will be an Artisans Market on Thursday, March 1 in the Church Center. RDLN's panel is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, and we plan to hold a Rural Caucus meeting on Friday, March 2.
